21st Annual Dignified Disposal of Unserviceable American Flags Ceremony

The American Legion of District #4 in combination with Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative (CVEC) in Seminole, has scheduled the 21st Annual Dignified Disposal of Unserviceable American Flags ceremony on Tuesday, October 12th, 2021. We are once again inviting all middle and high school students in the CVEC service area to enter our contest by submitting a one-page essay titled:

“What do the stars, stripes, and their colors on the flag mean to you?”

Two prizes will be awarded; one to a middle school student and the other to a high school student. Each winner will be awarded and presented with a $250.00 cash scholarship. The winning students will be requested to read their essays at the ceremony.

Please encourage all of your students to write and submit their essays via mail, email, or fax to:

Please make sure the cover sheet is filled out completely and submitted with each essay. Students shall write their name, school, and grade level on their essays. The essays must be postmarked or received by midnight Thursday, September 30th, 2021.

The ceremony will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12th, 2021 at CVEC Headquarters, 11277 HWY 99 Seminole, OK and is open to the public. Please invite all of your students to attend. Complimentary hamburgers, hot dogs, and soft drinks will be served.
